The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world in ways that were unimaginable just a few months ago. The pressing challenges that the European Union has been facing will now exacerbate and accelerate. How does the coronavirus crisis affect the EU internally and externally? Can the EU reconcile the varying levels of ambition present within an ever larger and less homogeneous EU, preserve the EU’s unity, and still play an important role on the global stage? What is the view from the ground when it comes to flexible modes of cooperation in the European project?

During the event the GLOBSEC DIFF GOV Report ‘Making Flexible Europe Work: European Governance and the Potential of Differentiated Cooperation’, will be presented by Kinga Brudzińska, Head of Future of Europe Programme, GLOBSEC Policy Institute.

Panelists:

  • Alexander Stubb, Director of the School of Transnational Governance, EUI, and Former Prime Minister of Finland
  • Heather Grabbe, Director, Open Society European Policy Institute
  • Noelle O'Connell, Executive Director, European Movement Ireland
  • Alexander Beribes, European Affairs, Department Democracy, Rule of Law and Political Parties, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V.
