GLOBSEC Trends 2021: Czechia one year into the COVID-19 pandemic

In Europe, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges not only to healthcare systems but has also tested the bloc’s and national governments’ crisis handling in the eyes of the EU citizens. With one year into the pandemic, it has become clear the crisis is will not go away any soon.

But how have the developments of the past year reflected in the public opinion of Central and Eastern Europeans? For a sixth year, GLOBSEC Trends 2021 report provides unique insight into public attitudes towards the functioning of democracy, proneness to belief in conspiracy theories and trust in institutions, mainstream media and authorities in ten Central and Eastern European countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

This summary focuses specifically on Czechia and has been developed in cooperation with the Czech partner in the project Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI) to bring you key highlights for the Czech Republic from the study.
