Youth Trends 2020 launched in the European Parliament
GLOBSEC Stratcom Research Fellows Katarina Klingova and Dominika Hajdu launched their new report YOUTH TRENDS 2020 with a debate in the European Parliament on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.
The discussion Youth and the World Around Them: Perception of the EU, United States and Russia among young people in Central Europe was co-organised and supported by the MEP Michal Šimečka (Renew Europe.), who opened the discussion with keynote remarks emphasising the importance of understanding citizens and communicating the EU and its benefits in a tangible way.
Katarina and Dominika presented the audience with key findings of the report, which focuses on the perceptions and views of the EU, United States and Russia among young people in the V4 countries – Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland.
Heather Grabbe, director of the Open Society Institute-Brussels and director of EU affairs for the Open Society Foundations, reflected on the results by elaborating on the questions of values in Central Europe and the individual approach necessary when engaging with the citizens in each country.
The discussion on the state of the Transatlantic bond and the role of Central Europe was full of insightful remarks delivered by MEPs:
- Anna Donath (Hungary, RE)
- Ludek Niedermayer (Czechia, EPP)
- Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz (Poland, S&D)
moderated by Otilia Dhand, expert on Central Europe.
We would like to thank the MEP and his team for providing us with a platform to present the findings in the European Parliament and we look forward to future cooperation!
