Defense and Deterrence: Results of the 2023 NATO Summit in Vilnius
Bright and early on Friday morning, GLOBSEC, in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), organized a timely brief entitled Defense and Deterrence: Results of the 2023 NATO Summit in Vilnius. The briefing was opened with remarks from Marcin Zaborowski, Policy Director, Future of Security Programme of GLOBSEC, who also introduced GLOBSEC’s latest report, “Will the Eastern Flank be Battle Ready? Deterrence by 2030, as well as from remarks from Christina Bellmann, Policy Advisor Transatlantic Relations at KAS. It was then followed by a high-level discussion featuring Professor Dr. Sven Biscop, Egmont Institute and Ghent University, General Pavel Macko, Former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, and Professor Jim Bergeron, Political Advisor at NATO Maritime Command. The discussion was also moderated by Christina Bellmann, Policy Advisor Transatlantic Relations at KAS. A diverse composition of stakeholders attended, including but not limited to national diplomats, European parliamentarians, military personnel, academia, and researchers.
