Vladimír Vaňo

Vladimir’s career began at the WWF and later at the Foundation for Civil Society, where he worked on supporting and building the capacity of civil society organisations in Slovakia. His business and economics experience began at a big four consulting and auditing company. He later entered the banking sector as the assistant to the Chief Economist of a global banking group, working his way to the position of Slovakia’s Chief Economist and the Head of Research of an international banking group headquartered in Vienna. In this role, he covered macroeconomics, financial markets, and banking sector research for the CEE region. Vano also served as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ivan Mikloš, among others.

Vladimir previously served on the board of directors and supervisory board of the Pontis Foundation, International Advisory Board of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, the board of the British Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic, as well as on the supervisory boards of the EIB-funded Venture for Future Fund and Export-Import Bank of Slovakia.

Vladimir is alumnus of Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien and Carlson School of Management. A laureate of the Rector’s Academic Award of Comenius University in Bratislava, he studied at its College of Management, and thanks to competitively won scholarships also at the College of Charleston, Georgetown and New York University. He also attended courses at the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University (Russia), Sun Yat-Sen University (China) and Indian School of Business. He is also a member of Mensa.
